At Tree Law, we’re passionate about protecting the natural environment through legal expertise. Our work supports local authorities, developers, and communities to manage and preserve trees and green spaces responsibly. We combine a deep understanding of law with a love of nature — and we’re looking for a new team member who shares our energy for doing good work that matters.
The Role
We’re seeking a Junior Solicitor with a criminal law background to join our growing team in Barry.
You don’t need experience in tree law — we’ll teach you that. What we need is someone who’s confident with court processes, hearings, advocacy, and case management.
You’ll work closely with our senior solicitors on a range of cases involving planning enforcement, environmental law, and local authority prosecutions. The role is office-based, giving you hands‑on experience, mentoring, and the chance to develop your legal career in a unique and positive field.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and manage case files relating to planning, environmental, and enforcement matters.
* Attend and assist with court hearings and tribunal proceedings.
* Liaise with clients, barristers, and expert witnesses.
* Draft legal documents, witness statements, and correspondence.
* Conduct legal research and support senior solicitors in case preparation.
* Contribute to the firm’s broader mission of promoting environmental responsibility through law.
About You
* Qualified Solicitor (1–5 years PQE).
* Experience in criminal law, advocacy, or litigation.
* Strong understanding of court processes and case management.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* A proactive, curious mindset with an interest in expanding into environmental or planning law.
* Based locally or willing to commute to our Barry office.
