Associate Lecturer – Music
Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary / Benefits: up to £24 p/h DOE and Qualifications
Hours / Weeks: 12hrs p/w
Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid (Sept 2026 – June 2027)
About the role: We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Music to join our Performing Arts department at The Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities:
* Teaching: Prepare, deliver, assess, and verify subject specialisms on the Level 3 Music Course; support and guide students; manage students’ learning; contribute to curriculum development; participate in marketing activities.
* Main Duties: Teach effectively on various programmes; prepare up-to-date schemes of work; develop new learning materials; assess students’ work; monitor and record progress.
* Student Support: Carry out tutorials; prepare reports and maintain records; develop vocational opportunities; ensure learning environments meet health and safety requirements.
* Administrative Tasks: Complete administrative tasks accurately; participate in course team meetings; implement quality processes; interview potential students.
* Statutory Duties: Promote and safeguard welfare; promote equality and diversity; follow health and safety requirements; participate in training and development.
About you:
* Qualifications: Level 4 qualification in music technology; GCSE English and Mathematics (grades A–C) or willingness to achieve Level 2; Level 5 qualification; Health & Safety qualification; safeguarding and equality training.
* Knowledge and Experience: Proven recording studio experience; knowledge of health and safety in music technology; familiarity with Apple Logic Pro/Pro Tools; experience with instrument maintenance and audio equipment repair.
* Skills: Self‑motivated; effective IT skills in music technology; ability to maintain stock inventories; effective communication face‑to‑face and on the telephone; ability to follow instructions.
* Special Requirements: Promoting and safeguarding welfare; forming appropriate relationships with children and vulnerable adults; willingness to update skills and knowledge; reliable and punctual; flexible approach to work.
* Personal Attributes: Ability to make a positive contribution to the team; promoting the College's reputation; creating a welcoming environment; full driving licence; first aid at work qualification.
