Management Accountant - Manufacturing
Location: West Bromwich, Birmingham (onsite)
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum + benefits

An established and growing manufacturing business is seeking a hands-on, commercially minded Management Accountant to join its team. This is a critical role supporting operational performance through high-quality financial reporting, robust costing insight, and close collaboration with engineering and production teams.
This position suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced SME environment, enjoys getting under the skin of manufacturing processes, and can translate operational activity into accurate financial performance.
The Role
As Management Accountant, you will play a key part in strengthening financial control and driving operational efficiency. You’ll work closely with engineering, production, and commercial colleagues to ensure costs, margins, and WIP are accurately understood and actively managed.
Key responsibilities include:
Management Accounting & Reporting
* Produce accurate monthly management accounts with insightful variance analysis.
* Build and maintain financial dashboards, KPIs, and performance reporting.
* Support annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial planning.
Costing, Engineering Support & Operational Finance
* Lead product costing activities, working with engineering to understand labour, materials, routings, and machine costs.
* Monitor manufacturing variances, scrap, labour utilisation, and overhead recovery.
* Provide real-time costing insight to support pricing, margin optimisation, and commercial decisions.
* Work with engineers and production managers to challenge assumptions and improve cost accuracy.
WIP, Inventory & Control
* Own WIP reporting, ensuring accuracy of job costing, stock movements, and production transactions.
* Maintain strong controls around inventory valuation, cycle counts, and stock integrity.
* Support ERP accuracy, including BOM setup, routing data, and operational workflows.
Financial Control & Continuous Improvement
* Help drive improvements in financial systems, automation, and reporting.
* Support cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
* Contribute to CAPEX appraisals, investment analysis, and operational improvement projects.
* Assist with year‑end processes, audit requirements, and statutory compliance.
About You
You will be a proactive finance professional with genuine interest in how products are made and how operations impact the numbers.
Essential:
* Part-qualified, finalist, or qualified CIMA/ACCA (or equivalent).
* Strong experience in manufacturing management accounting.
* Solid understanding of product costing, WIP accounting, and margin analysis.
* Confident analysing financial and operational data and communicating findings clearly.
* Advanced Excel skills and competence working with ERP systems.
Desirable:
* Experience supporting engineering teams with cost models and operational data.
* Background in SMEs or complex, fast‑paced manufacturing environments.
* Exposure to system improvements, automation, or ERP optimisation projects
