Overview
Production Operations Team Manager. Location: Mells, Somerset. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (some shift work may be required). Competitive salary plus benefits and overtime available. Part of Marshalls Water Management, a leading manufacturer of precast concrete drainage and bespoke products.
We now have a new opportunity to support the Operations Manager to exceed KPIs by cascading objectives to manufacturing teams and fostering a proactive culture across the business. This role is primarily office-based (70%) with hands-on involvement (30%) during busy periods.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day running of concrete production, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met.
* Ensure colleague compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including developing risk assessments and SOPs.
* Monitor and manage production schedules to meet customer requirements and business targets.
* Lead, motivate, and develop a team of operators to achieve performance goals.
* Organise and conduct training to maintain competency, create an agile workforce, and identify succession plans for critical roles.
* Identify and troubleshoot operational issues, implementing process improvements where necessary.
* Ensure accurate record-keeping of production data, quality checks, and maintenance activities.
* Coordinate with maintenance teams to enable autonomous maintenance of plant and equipment.
Mission-Critical Skills / Qualifications
* Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the concrete or broader construction materials industry (desirable).
* Excellent leadership and people-management skills; ability to motivate and develop staff.
* Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Relevant IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word) for operational reporting and communication.
* Knowledge and understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
* Experience with continuous improvement/lean manufacturing techniques (e.g., DMAIC) is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
* IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH General Certificate and other relevant qualifications.
* Formal continuous improvement/lean manufacturing qualification.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Management or a related discipline.
