The role: We are looking for an experienced and motivated Team Manager to join the SEND Assessment and Review service within the Council's Education and Skills Directorate.In this pivotal role, you will lead a team responsible for the delivery of high-quality statutory processes that ensure children and young people with complex special educational needs and disabilities receive the right support at the right time, in the right setting. Key responsibilities:
Lead, supervise and support a team to deliver consistent, high-quality work that meets statutory duties and delivers positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people Ensure statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments and annual reviews are completed on time and to a high standard, in line with legislation and best practice Promote inclusive education and contribute to the reduction of out-of-authority placements Work collaboratively with professionals across education, health and care, especially at key transition points (e.g. preschool to school, school to Post-16/19) Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, and policy to ensure robust, lawful and child-focused decision making Support the strategic development and improvement of SEND services across the Council What the client is looking for:
Degree Level or equivalent qualification Appropriate professional qualification (law/public administration/education/social care/health) Management qualification or commitment to undertake management training A qualification in SEND or evidence of significant and extensive experience Evidence of significant and extensive SEND experience Experience of supervising and recruiting staff Experience of decision making within statutory frameworks, with financial implications and where decisions are subject to legal challenge Detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory framework for SEND and Government initiatives relating to SEND, and working knowledge of related regulations (eg exclusions and admissions) Detailed knowledge and understanding of mechanisms to support schools and other settings to meet the educational needs of children and young people with SEND Positive leadership and supervisory skills Good analytical and assessment skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills Strong performance management skills How to Apply:
