The Acute and Emergency Medicine Directorate at Morriston Hospital consists of relatively new and enthusiastic team of experienced managers and senior clinicians, taking Acute and Emergency care forward in line with the Health Board transformation goals.
We are looking for a service manager to work within the management team. You will be an NHS manager with a proven track record in delivering against business targets whilst retaining the patient at the centre of your decision making.
As an experienced, motivated and independently minded leader you will be able to act on your own initiative within agreed guidelines, adopting values led “can do” leadership style within a climate of change to implement and manage the plans and performance of the service group under the direction of the Directorate Manager. You will want to develop your own skills and will be passionate about supporting and developing others within your team.
Main duties of the job
On behalf of the Directorate Manager the post holder is responsible for the day to day operational issues within designated area of responsibility to ensure the Service Group delivers on its key targets & priorities in a safe, sustainable and effective environment.
This post supports the Directorate Manager and assists in the modernisation, planning and delivery of services within the Service Group.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
On behalf of the Divisional Manager take a management lead on the day to day delivery of operational clinical services. Ensuring that junior staff rotas are functional and support the delivery of modernisation targets.
Provide direct support to the Lead Clinicians in the management of demand for and supply of capacity on a day to day basis.
Manage Job Planning process for junior medical staff in ensuring that all options for service delivery are reviewed.
Support in developing/modernising services within designated areas of responsibility identifying and leading on specific projects.
On behalf of the Divisional Manager take an operational lead for efficiency within area of responsibility.
Act on own initiative to resolve capacity issues liaising with consultants and other departments to ensure current and future targets are met.
To support the Divisional Manager and clinicians in delivery of effective unscheduled care services and support patient flow.
