Job Description – Buyer
The Role:
Reporting to the Group Purchasing Manager you will have experience in buying various products in a fast-moving environment whilst ensuring that stock levels are maintained at the best price and quality to meet customer demand.
Key duties:
· Directly support the purchasing team with day-to-day procurement activities.
· Ensure that purchasing activities are carried out in a timely and cost-effective manner.
· Be commercially aware of the wider implications of:
o Stock levels
o Price changes
o Freight costs
· Maintain cost effective stock levels whilst minimising shortages.
· Actively seek to reduce stock holding and material costs.
· Adhere to daily procurement disciplines in line with system requirements.
· Work closely with production planning to ensure manufacturing resources are in place to deliver orders as required
· Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of product categories.
· Liaise effectively with customer service and warehouse teams to address stock issues, customer complaints, and supplier concerns.
· Support the import of goods into the UK, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
· Develop and maintain good working relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favourable terms.
· Identify slow and excess stock and work with the team to create a plan to resolve.

The successful applicant will have:
· Minimum 5 years buying experience in a fast-moving customer focused environment
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Have a strong commercial accumen
· Good understanding of importing goods into the UK.
· Ideally educated to degree level
· CIPS is desired but not essential
