Overview
Research Fellow in Sustainable Batteries for Seamless Textile Electronics for Healthcare at the University of Southampton. The project aims to develop flexible, safe, energy‑dense textiles‑powered batteries for wearable healthcare sensors and communication.
Responsibilities
* Carry out research within the SUSTAIN programme on water, lithium and special polymer fabrics to build non-toxic lithium‑conductive hydrated polymer batteries with high deformability and stretchability.
* Collaborate with textile designers, experts in printed electronics and wireless communications, and sustainability analysts to build working demonstrations of textile electronics that can act as wearable doctors.
* Publish results and contribute to project milestones; develop and test battery concepts and prototypes suitable for wearable applications.
Qualifications
* PhD (awarded or imminent) in chemistry, materials science or a closely related discipline or equivalent qualification and experience.

Notes
Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to qualification being awarded, the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
