Job Purpose
The Electrical Supervisor will oversee electrical installation, maintenance, testing, and compliance works within the social housing sector, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and in line with regulatory, contractual, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operational
*
Supervise electrical works across social housing properties, including occupied and void dwellings
* Ensure compliance with BS 7671, NICEIC/EIC requirements, and housing sector standards
*
Interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules of work
*
Plan labour and materials to meet programme requirements
*
Carry out site inspections, quality checks, and support testing and commissioning
*
Assist with fault finding and technical issues
Health, Safety & Compliance
*
Ensure all works comply with health & safety legislation and company procedures
*
Deliver toolbox talks, site inductions, and enforce RAMS
*
Ensure safe working practices in occupied homes, including tenant safety and safeguarding
Team & Site Management
*
Supervise electricians, mates, apprentices, and subcontractors
*
Coordinate works with project managers, housing officers, and other trades
*
Monitor productivity and report progress, variations, or issues
Administration & Communication
*
Complete site paperwork, certification, and progress reports
*
Assist with ordering materials and managing deliveries
*
Liaise with clients, local authorities, housing associations, and site teams
Skills & Experience
*
Experience as an Electrical Supervisor or Senior Electrician
*
Previous experience working within the social housing or local authority sector
*
Strong knowledge of electrical installations and current regulations
*
Experience supervising site teams and subcontractors
*
Ability to interpret technical drawings and schedules
*
Good understanding of health & safety requirements in occupied properties
*
Full UK driving licence
Qualifications
*
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
*
AM2 or equivalent
*
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
*
ECS / JIB Gold Card (Supervisory or equivalent)
*
SSSTS or SMSTS (desirable)
