Job Description
Job Title: Engineering Technician
Location: Horsham
Shift: Monday - Friday (6am-2:15pm & 2pm-10:15pm rotating)
Position summary:
Based at our Horsham site, this role supports production, including serialization & commercial equipment, and other areas such as the Warehouse, with equipment breakdowns and overtime. The role focuses on minimizing downtime by maintaining equipment in accordance with:
* Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Engineering Practice (GEP)
* Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
* Managing own actions and deliverables, and organizing own time
Follow planned maintenance schedules aligned with equipment and regulatory requirements within the Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedule. Identify preventative maintenance needs and address them.
Participate in training and other activities to ensure ongoing technical and personal development to meet business needs.
Flexibility to work shifts, including core, night, and weekend shifts when required based on production demands.
Responsibilities:
* Continuously improve packaging, serialization, commercial equipment, and packaging operations. Analyze process metrics to identify improvement areas, reduce variation, and optimize performance. Collaborate with teams to reduce process and business variations. Update procedures to meet new or changed requirements.
* Adhere to GMP and GEP standards.
* Follow SOPs.
* Maintain planned maintenance schedules, identify preventive needs, and address them.
* Discuss problems with team members and leaders, ensure detailed handovers, participate in meetings, and provide constructive input.
* Engage in training and development activities, and mentor resources as needed.
* Manage and complete assigned work, primarily on double shifts, with flexibility to cover other shifts as required.
* Lead or support projects involving new equipment installation, development, improvement, and validation.
* Liaise with internal customers and machine suppliers to resolve issues and coordinate visits if needed.
* Follow health and safety procedures, including near miss reports and risk assessments.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
* NVQ Level 3, HND, or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 17th or 18th edition wiring regulations.
* Proven ability to analyze complex technical issues and propose practical solutions, with experience in continuous improvement within process industries.
* Knowledge of Engineering Standards and their application.
* Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools such as 5S, Kaizen, etc.
* Some travel may be required.
