Job Summary
University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) is recruiting an Imaging Department Assistant for its General X‑ray team. The role supports the imaging team by providing reception, clerical duties, data entry, and clinical assistance alongside radiographers in imaging rooms and portable imaging. The position covers 12.5‑hour and 8‑hour shift duties, including 24/7 365‑day service.
Applicants must hold at least five GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English, and have experience working in a caring, patient‑facing environment. Prior experience in an X‑ray department and the ability to participate in a flexible roster are essential.
Responsibilities
* Provide reception and clerical support, including accurate data entry.
* Assist diagnostic radiographers in clinical and portable imaging.
* Maintain stock and cleanliness in clinical areas.
* Act as a Fire Warden (training provided).
* Participate in the 24/7, 365‑day service on a shift basis.
Qualifications
* Essential
o Minimum five GCSEs or equivalent vocational course, including English grade C or above.
o Computer literate – familiar with Microsoft Office and capable of accurate data entry.
o Organised, prioritising, and detail‑oriented.
o Experience in a patient or client‑facing caring environment.
o Previous experience in an X‑ray department.
o Willingness to work a 24/7 roster with a flexible approach.
* Desirable
o NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Care.
o Evidence of personal development.
o Experience working in an NHS clinical role.
o Experience within an imaging department.
o Knowledge of radiological information systems.
