What's involved with this role: Job Title: Independent Living Housing Officer Ref: ATR 5279828 Pay rate: £16.50 per hour PAYE Role length: Anticipated 3 months Working arrangements: Part time hours - the working pattern can be agreed at interview Additional requirement: Driving Licence and access to transport The role: The Independent Housing Officers support customers in the community to ensure that they can stay in their homes by providing an effective, holistic enhanced and core housing management service and knowing and responding effectively when people need extra help. You will have previous experience of understanding risks for those who are vulnerable and living independently, ideally have experience in housing management, and previously worked within social housing. You will be professional, self-sufficient, and confident in managing customer and stakeholder relationships, have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with an ability to problem solve and deliver effective solutions. Key responsibilities: Provide an enhanced level of presence, visibility, and accessibility to your customers. You will be their dedicated point of contact throughout their tenancy and be available to them in flexible ways that meet the needs of each scheme or customer Complete a minimum annual “check in” for customers you are not already engaged with, to ensure they remain safe, well, independent and in receipt of all the services and support they need to remain living independently Arrange and conduct effective scheme meetings with customers and support the customer voice in everything that you do Facilitate social inclusion activities within scheme and by signposting to the community, maximising opportunities for customers to improve their wellbeing and thrive Complete risk assessments for those who are vulnerable and live independently Use a risk-based approach to schedule and complete scheme-based Health and Safety Inspections and Neighbourhood Inspections. Always take responsibility for site issues and risks, whenever they arise, and ensure they are resolved or managed effectively Manage and monitor your own housing management performance using performance management systems Support and enforce the landlord strategies including Safety First and Rent First Manage tenancies through support and enforcement with an emphasis on thorough and sound case management and procedural adherence Identify and report safeguarding concerns What the client is looking for: Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent to include English Knowledge of the housing sector and current housing issues with ideally housing management experience Previous experience of understanding risks and needs for those who are vulnerable and living independently and what services that can be accessed for them Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience of challenging, emotive situations and applying empathy and patience Organised with accurate record keeping and presentation skills Customer focussed with strong problem solving skills Good level of IT skills and experienced in the use of mobile working equipment How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
