Wakefield Exchange is a major new creative and cultural venue in the heart of Wakefield. It hosts events ranging from large music gigs and exhibitions, to Northern Soul and Comicons.
The post holder will deputise for the General Manager and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operations of Wakefield Exchange with specific responsibilities for building management, tech and event management.This is a wide-ranging position, and we will provide on-going support, such as training, to enable the post holder to fulfil all aspects of the job.
The overall responsibility of this post includes providing a lead for the coordination, development and delivery of onsite lighting and audio-visual technology. Alongside this the role will also support the operation of WX through:
1. Managing the building to ensure its smooth operation and security.
2. Managing large-scale public events.
3. Managing multiple teams (casual staff, operations officers, external security, and other contractors).
4. Oversee the installation and configuration of onsite AV equipment.
5. Schedule regular checks and maintenance for AV,IT, and networking equipment, including monthly visual checks, ensuring thorough monitoring compliance with venue standards and safety regulations (PAT testing).
6. Liaise with external tech suppliers for rentals, repairs and upgrades, as well as coordinating with suppliers providing wider technical support for onsite activity, ensuring effective integration with onsite tech and Wi-Fi provision.
7. Programming of onsite lighting and sound presets.
8. Ensure that all tech systems are tested and operational before events.
9. Provide onsite technical assistance during events and bookings.
