Role Overview
Consultant Rheumatologist to join an established Rheumatology service based at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. The unit is located in a modern dedicated facility at Truro Health Park, equipped with consultant offices, outpatient suites, and a lecture facility.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and day‑to‑day management of the Rheumatology department.
* Deliver comprehensive rheumatology services across Cornwall, including peripheral outpatient clinics and specialist follow‑up clinics.
* Administer biologic therapies within the Medical Day Unit and West Cornwall Penlee Unit.
* Teach and train junior doctors, medical students, and allied health professionals.
* Support the Rheumatology research programme and contribute to research projects.
* Ensure participation in continuing medical education (CME) and maintain high clinical standards.
* Engage in clinical governance, audit, and Trust‑wide quality improvement initiatives.
* Attend departmental and Trust‑wide meetings as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified Consultant Rheumatologist with full registration.
* Extensive clinical experience in rheumatology, including biologic therapy and outpatient services.
* Proven ability to teach and train juniors and students.
* Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
* Commitment to continued professional development.
