Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced recovery nurse/ODP to join the Evelina Theatres team as a Senior Recovery Practitioner.

The successful candidate will have expert recovery skills, be proactive, self-motivated, have strong inter-personal skills, a vision for service improvement and demonstrable leadership and management skills. This role is expected to actively support, co-ordinate and assist in the management and delivery of high quality care to patients.

Evelina theatres collaborate with and support our Children's Day Surgery Unit, where there is opportunity to rotate and expectation of cross-cover when required.

With the planned addition of Oncology services at the Evelina, the post holder must demonstrate change management and teaching/education skills and willingness to embrace new ways of working and acquiring relevant knowledge and skills.

You must have a paediatric qualification / suitable paediatric experience or be willing to pursue the paediatric education pathway for adult nurses. Whilst this is a paediatric environment, some adults undergo procedures in our congenital cardiac catheter lab. This role therefore provides opportunity for paediatric registered nurses to develop skills in caring for adults.

As well as shift co-ordination and supporting band 5 members of the team, the post holder will also act as a Recovery Team Leader. This involves supporting the development of a group of band 5 staff, undertaking management duties (such as PDR) in collaboration with band 6 colleagues, the Recovery Sister and the Theatre Education Team.

Closing date: 09/11/2025, midnight
