A UK organisation is seeking a Category Director – Technology to lead and transform its technology procurement strategy. As part of an ambitious digital transformation journey, this organisation is investing in modernising its technology estate and building strategic supplier partnerships that drive agility, efficiency, and innovation.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping the sourcing strategy across all IT categories, influencing executive-level stakeholders, and delivering enterprise-wide impact through effective commercial and supplier management.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a strategic advisor to senior stakeholders, ensuring procurement efforts are fully aligned with organisational objectives and digital transformation plans.
* Lead the design and execution of technology category strategies that optimise commercial outcomes, drive innovation, and manage risk effectively.
* Build and maintain high-impact relationships with key suppliers, focusing on performance, value creation, and sustainability commitments.
* Ensure all procurement and sourcing activities adhere to established governance frameworks, delivering efficiency, transparency, and compliance.
* Partner with fellow category leaders to support a cohesive, resource-efficient procurement function across the broader organisation.
* Maintain clear, accurate records of contracts and projects, using data insights to guide decision-making and identify opportunities or risks.
* Act as a senior escalation point for complex negotiations and contractual issues, providing expert commercial guidance where needed.
About You
* Significant experience leading technology category strategy and procurement at enterprise scale.
* Proven track record of delivering complex IT transformation programmes and supplier sourcing strategies.
* Strong commercial acumen and ability to lead business-critical negotiations.
* Skilled in applying working capital improvement techniques and driving value from third-party spend.
* Director-level leadership experience managing high-performing category teams.
* Experience leading strategic change programmes within a large, complex organisation.
Qualifications
* MCIPS qualification (or equivalent professional certification in procurement).
