Senior Sustainability and Net Zero Consultant – Housing

Our Housing Sustainability and Net Zero team is expanding to meet rising demand from social housing providers and public sector organizations. We seek individuals with demonstrable experience in supporting housing sustainability programs, investment planning, and delivery on the net zero carbon agenda.
Our Senior Consultants come from diverse backgrounds including energy and sustainability consultancies, engineering firms, local authorities, and housing associations. They have played key roles in housing and real estate sustainability projects, with technical expertise in retrofit and some line management experience.
This role places you at the forefront of the UK’s housing and public sectors' transition to net zero carbon. Responsibilities will be tailored to your skills and experience, ranging from developing net zero energy and ESG strategies to supporting innovative projects like the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator and Retrofit Accelerator for Homes.

Key tasks (not all necessarily in one person):
* Line manage junior consultants and support their professional development.
* Assist in developing business cases for new service areas to expand our reach.
* Lead project management, including client liaison, resource, and budget management.
* Support social landlords and public sector bodies through their net-zero strategies and investment programs, covering all phases from awareness to completion.
* Analyze housing asset data to benchmark energy performance and develop investment scenarios.
* Help social landlords measure environmental performance and develop ESG strategies and reporting frameworks.
* Support current industry assistance programs like the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator.
* Identify new business opportunities and contribute to bids.

Desired skills and experience include:
* Degree or relevant experience in sustainability or environment topics related to housing or the built environment.
* Extensive project management experience, managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
* Experience interpreting data to drive decarbonization and asset planning.
* Subject matter expertise in net zero and ESG policies in social housing.
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
* Strong problem-solving and relationship management skills.
Additional desirable experience:
* Social landlord/public sector experience in asset management, finance, development, or retrofit projects.
* Construction sector experience, including contract management.
* Experience developing retrofit guidance or tools.
* Sustainable procurement and supply chain assessment skills.
* Retrofit Coordinator training or similar qualifications, awareness of PAS2035.
* Stakeholder engagement, especially with residents.
* Team management and business development skills.
* Energy performance benchmarking and sustainability reporting knowledge.
* Technical solutions for housing archetypes, including fabric measures and renewable energy.
