What You'll Be Doing:
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and analyzing complex steel structures that support submarine builds. Your expertise will be essential in:
* Conducting design and analysis using Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards, employing FEA and classical calculation methods.
* Applying your knowledge of regulations, including LOLER, Codes of Compliance, Weld Specifications, and Geometric Tolerance.
* Interpreting data through advanced analytical techniques, including finite element analysis and CAD modeling (Abaqus, S-Frame).
* Supporting the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures.
* Producing concept drawings, layouts, and technical outputs that align with contractual requirements, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
* Checking and approving calculations to maintain high standards of quality.
Your Skills and Experience:
Essential:
* BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or nearing CEng status.
* Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
* Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
* Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
* Strong background in mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, NX, MathCAD, and Excel.
* Experience in a production or marine production environment.

The Production Engineering Department Team:
As part of our dynamic Production Engineering Department, you will collaborate with a talented team of designers and engineers. You’ll be instrumental in conducting engineering assessments that support our submarine build process. Your contributions will help develop equipment and provide operational support for delivering safety-critical systems. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates across all submarine roles.
