Science Technician (Level 3) – Term Time Only
Required for a September Start
Gowerton School is seeking to appoint a committed, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician (Level 3) to support the work of our Science Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to play a key role in helping staff and pupils access a safe, effective and engaging practical science curriculum.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Head of Science and department staff to provide specialist support across the department, including the preparation of materials for lessons and demonstrations, preparation of chemical solutions, maintenance of equipment and resources, stock control, record keeping, and support for practical work in class where appropriate. The post also includes responsibility for helping to maintain a safe, orderly and productive laboratory environment and promoting high standards of health and safety at all times.
We are looking for someone with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience in a related discipline, together with very good numeracy and literacy skills. Applicants should have experience of using ICT and specialist equipment/resources, a good understanding of relevant policies and legislation, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and the ability to relate well to both young people and adults. Relevant first aid knowledge and a willingness to continue developing professionally would also be advantageous.
The role is 37 hours per week, 8:00am–4:30pm with a 1-hour unpaid break, term time only.
The salary is Grade 5, SCP 7–9, (currently £26,403–£27,254) pro rata per annum.
