Job Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic Team Leader with a can-do attitude. The Team Leader will lead our brilliant Family Safeguarding team who support young people and families experiencing challenges with drugs or alcohol. The Team Leader will work alongside colleagues in the Wigan & Leigh service and Wigan's Children's Social Care Teams. The successful applicant will have a good understanding of the issues facing young people along with a strong contextual safeguarding knowledge.
Our Family Safeguarding Team work across 10 Family Safeguarding multi-disciplinary teams based in sites across Wigan & Leigh, to support children and families to make positive changes. The team works with parents and guardians whose children are subject to children in need, children subject to child protection plans and looked after children on a short term basis, supporting parents who are affected by substance misuse to improve overall outcomes for the family. Family Safeguarding Teams are co–located alongside social workers, domestic abuse workers, mental health practitioners and child family practitioners to provide a whole family approach to child protection to keep more children safely at home with their families using a range of family programme modules within the family safeguarding workbook. The aim is to work collaboratively with the right families, at the right time, respecting families’ rights, following guidance and law.
The successful applicant will have a positive approach to working in a dynamic environment with a commitment to providing meaningful services to those who present to our service and achieve this by supporting the existing dedicated team of recovery workers.
Areas of work will include:
● Supporting the management team in the delivery of the contracted service
● Positively promoting the service and WithYou Wigan & Leigh
● Managing the staff within the service, ensuring staff are well informed, inspired and engaged with the strategic objectives of WithYou and that a cohesive culture is developed
Essential Skills
Managing and developing your team to reach its full potential will be key to your success and will be your passion. You will motivate your team to deliver exceptional services to those we support and will have the ability to connect quickly with both staff and clients, treating them respectfully and with dignity. This is a busy team, with multiple priorities ongoing, so it’s important that you are highly organised and able to manage your time effectively.
You and your team will be responsible for delivering against targets, always ensuring the service is complying with all of the necessary requirements that arise from working in a social care setting. There'll be data analysis and administration tasks to deal with too, but that's all part of this busy and varied job that you take in your stride. You will have:
* ONC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent or a commitment to complete within 18-months
* Demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care or criminal justice setting and of working in partnership with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies
* An understanding of the issues facing young people experiencing challenges in relation to drug/alcohol and/or mental health challenges
* The ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
* The ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative and supportive manner
* Knowledge of health and safety, including assessing high risk situations
* Be results driven and possess analytical skills

This is a full time position, working Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
