About the Opportunity:
Jacobs Engineering Development are currently recruiting an EC&I Engineer to strengthen our existing capability in support of our Materials Science and Structural Integrity Labs at Birchwood, Warrington and for several upcoming and exciting projects within the wider energy sector.
Specific responsibilities are:
1. The ability to work safely following company policies and procedures
2. Electrical, control and instrumentation support: serving a state of the art materials and corrosion laboratory
3. Maintaining, fault finding and repairing existing control and instrumentation systems and laboratory equipment
4. Building, installing and modifying bespoke control panels and instrumentation
5. Working with the design team to ensure all schematics and cable schedules are correct and updated
6. Carrying out electrical testing and commissioning of plant
7. Preparing electrical schematic drawings
8. Working with industrial heating and pressure systems, servo-hydraulic and servo-electric test rigs
9. Familiarity with a wide range of instrumentation for measuring test data and associated data acquisition systems
10. Carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance on a variety of electrical systems, plant and machinery.
The successful candidate will have excellent practical EC&I skills with the ability to analyse faulty control and instrumentation systems in a logical manner, identifying faults and carrying out remedial work.
This is a varied role and a willingness to question and learn will be essential.Good communication skills, often across multiple disciplines to deliver customer requirements efficiently and effectively is a pre-requisite. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and take a positive, proactive and enthusiastic approach to delivering to tight deadlines.
The role will predominantly be hands-on within the laboratory with an element of desk based design of modifications as required.
