Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne ( Hybrid ) / 3 Days per week
Level: Senior Analyst / Specialist
Salary: Up to £65,000 + Sign-on Bonus
Role Overview
As a Data Engineer within our Advanced Technology Centre, you will be at the forefront of innovation, delivering high-impact data solutions for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and cloud-based architectures that power AI, advanced analytics, and mission-critical operational insights.
Key Responsibilities
* Pipeline Engineering: Architect and maintain robust data pipelines using Java (primary) or Python. Implement high-throughput processing using tools such as Apache Flink, Kafka, or Spark.
* Cloud & DevOps Integration: Manage and optimize AWS environments. Drive automation through CI/CD pipelines, Terraform (IaC), and containerization strategies utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.
* Data Governance & Architecture: Implement comprehensive data modeling, ensuring rigorous standards for data lineage, security, and governance across all projects.
* Collaborative Leadership: Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready datasets. Act as a technical mentor to junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Candidate Requirements
Technical Expertise
* Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering or managing large-scale, distributed data systems.
* Programming: Strong proficiency in Java (strongly preferred) or Python.
* Stream Processing: Hands-on experience with Kafka or Flink.
* Cloud Platforms: Professional experience with AWS is preferred, though candidates with strong Azure or GCP backgrounds will be considered.
* Tools & Methodology: Proficient in Git, CI/CD workflows, and Agile delivery.
Soft Skills
* Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
* A collaborative mindset suited for a high-performance, global network.
Desirable Attributes
* Relevant Cloud Certifications (AWS Solutions Architect/Developer).
* Prior experience within a consultancy environment.
* Knowledge of low-latency systems and performance tuning.
