As an Employability Tutor with Derby Adult Learning Service, you'll have the opportunity to support adults and NEET learners to build confidence, develop new skills and take positive steps towards work, further learning or volunteering. Every day brings the chance to see learners grow and progress because of the support and encouragement you provide.

This is a rewarding role where you'll deliver on or Journey to Work programme and wider community learning such as budgeting, digital skills and personal development. If you're ready to be part of a supportive service that values innovation, professional development and the positive impact of adult learning, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you. As an Employability Tutor, you'll not only help learners move forward – you'll also grow your own career within a forward-thinking and inclusive adult learning service.

The Opportunity

In the role of Adult Learning Tutor, here's an example of what you'll be doing to make an impact:

You will plan and deliver engaging and supportive employability and life skills sessions and provide ongoing personal assessment to adults who are unemployed, economically inactive, or otherwise distanced from the labour market — including NEET learners. Working primarily within Derby's Journey to Work programme, you will also contribute to wider community learning by delivering flexible, learner-centred courses such as budgeting, digital skills, and personal development

About You

* Experience of working with unemployed, NEET, or disadvantaged learners to support their progression.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage learners from diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to plan and deliver structured, learner-centred sessions in areas such as employability, life skills, and community learning.
* Good organisational and time management skills, including record keeping and tracking learner progress.
* Confidence in using IT and digital tools to support teaching, learning and administration.
* Awareness of safeguarding, Prevent, and equality, diversity & inclusion in an adult learning context.
* Ability to work flexibly across different venues and times (some evenings or weekends may be required).

Qualifications (Essential)

* A recognised teaching or training qualification at Level 3 or above (e.g. Award in Education & Training or willingness to achieve within 2 years).
* English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 (GCSE equivalent).

Desirable:

* Experience delivering accredited qualifications or RARPA learning.
* Experience of delivering community learning courses such as budgeting, digital inclusion, or personal development.
* Additional qualification in digital skills, employability, or advice & guidance.
