Job Description
JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and compliance company looking for engineers to join our team in Dartmouth. We offer self‑employed, flexible‑hour roles that can be part‑time or full‑time.
The role involves traveling to a variety of sites—hospitals, retail outlets, offices—invaluable for gaining a breadth of experience. You will record findings in a PAT test report book or an electronic system and provide employers with a copy.
You will also prepare certificates and completion checklists, and advise users on the safety status of appliances. The role demands organisation, reliability, honesty, and a "can‑do" attitude.
Heaviest tasks involve testing a wide range of appliances—microwaves, kettles, computers, and more—using specialised test instruments that check for safety compliance.
A typical day of a portable appliance testing (PAT) engineer
Your days will never be the same. Each morning you will pack your tools and equipment into the van and travel to the first job of the day.
On site you will conduct tests, record results and inform users of any devices that are unsafe. After completing the testing, you will complete the test report and any necessary paperwork.
Throughout the day you will be constantly on the move from one location to another—either alone or with a team. Organisation and accuracy are essential to keep tests efficient.
The position is physically and mentally demanding but rewarding. You will help keep workplaces safe while developing your own expertise.
By joining JR PAT Testing you will become part of a supportive team that values well‑being. You will receive full support and training, and you may access long‑term growth opportunities.
