Joinery Vocational Tutor Location : 200 Springfield Road, Belfast, BT12 7DB Salary : £29,269 Hours : 37 per week Responsible to: Operations Manager Role overview The Joinery Vocational Tutor will deliver high-quality joinery training within the Training for Success delivery team at Springvale Learning. The role focuses on developing the competence of SFLW learners through training, assessment and on-site placements, in line with Department for the Economy, ETI and awarding body requirements. Main duties Assist with marketing and recruitment of learners for work-based learning programmes within Springvales SFLW provision. Participate in student induction, monitoring and review processes. Assess and record learners skills, abilities and experience at entry. Maintain expected performance levels in line with contract compliance and ETI standards on retention, achievement and progression. Design robust lesson plans and schemes of work for the qualifications delivered. Maintain optimum learner occupancy numbers in line with programme targets. Prepare an individual training plan for each learner. Liaise with employers to secure and maintain quality placement provision. Ensure all placements meet requirements for child protection, insurance, liability, employment law and health and safety. Deliver high-quality practical and technical joinery sessions. Monitor, review and record learner progress on site and in placement. Monitor equipment, resources, materials, tools and protective clothing issued to learners. Undertake continuous professional development to maintain high standards of provision. Produce internal and external reports as required. Produce an annual ISEF self-evaluation of delivery in line with ETI quality improvement specifications. Participate in curriculum standardisation meetings to ensure compliance with awarding body specifications. Liaise with external examiners, moderators and verifiers. Develop relationships with key partners and other external organisations. Maintain effective working relationships with all internal departments. Person specification essential Qualifications and attainments Maths and English GCSE Grade C or higher (or recognised equivalent). Level 3 qualification (or higher) in a relevant vocational joinery area. Teaching and Learning qualification containing LLUK Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers, or willingness to work towards this. Assessor Award, or willingness to work towards this. Current UK driving licence (or ability to meet the mobility requirements of the post if unable to hold a licence due to disability). ICT literate. Relevant experience Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience post-apprenticeship. Ability to engage and motivate learners to reach their full capability. Proven track record in achieving targets and quality standards. Special aptitudes Excellent planning and organisational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with learners and colleagues at all levels and backgrounds. Ability to develop positive rapport with learners. Desirable Internal Quality Assurance Award (TAQA). Knowledge and competence in SER/ETI standards, awarding body records and certification methods. Use of innovative learning methods including ICT.
