We have an exciting opportunity at Thames Water to join us as a Field Operations Specialist.
As a Field Operations Specialist, your role will be to carry out field investigations into complex operational problems with our wastewater network, identifying solutions to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
This role covers a defined geographical area of the Thames Valley. You will be based 40% in the field and 60% in the office, so comfort with both environments is essential.
Base location: Kidlington - OX51QT. You will cover a wider area and drive between sites; a full clean UK driving licence is required.
Working pattern: Hybrid – 36 hours per week, plus standby rota with additional pay.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinate planned and reactive technical activities to ensure effectiveness and minimal customer impact.
* Be the main contact for emergency works in your area, ensuring contractor safety and compliance.
* Plan and collaborate with delivery partners on asset maintenance.
* Provide technical support to resolve network issues and ensure stability.
* Deliver crisis management plans to minimise service disruptions.
* Work with field teams and the customer solution centre to diagnose and resolve complex problems.
* Audit contractors to ensure work meets Thames Water standards and compliance.
* Provide maintenance and improvement insights, and assist with contingency planning.
* Report regional performance and identify risks.
* Promote health and safety culture and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency with IT systems and office software.
* Experience in the water industry, especially wastewater networks, is beneficial but not essential.
* Customer-focused approach to network delivery.
* Strong health and safety commitment and persistence.
* Excellent communication skills at all organisational levels.
* Experience managing third-party contractors.
* Business awareness, innovative problem-solving, teamwork, and influencing skills.
