Job Summary

GL@GP recruits, employs, trains and supports pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in General Practice to deliver high quality patient services.

Job Responsibilities

* Work closely with clinical and admin teams to ensure the efficient processing of repeat prescriptions including medication monitoring for high‑risk drugs.
* Monitor and act on drug safety alerts, medication reconciliations for discharge and clinical letters.
* Collaborate with the Practice Pharmacist(s) on medicines optimisation and patient care activities.
* Assist in the continuous development of the service while maintaining high standards and best practice.

* GPhC registration
* Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
* Medicines Optimisation qualification
* Evidence of CPD

Experience


Essential

* Working effectively within multidisciplinary groups
* Post‑qualification experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or community pharmacy setting
* Experience dealing with patients/public (e.g. patient counselling)
* Understanding of prescribing, dispensing and medicines management issues
* Medicines management experience in a ward‑based setting (medication history taking, medicines reconciliation)
* Adherence to and application of strict confidentiality
* Microsoft Office software proficiency


Desirable

* Management of staff
* Education & training of staff
* Recruitment and selection experience
* Post‑qualification experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital & community pharmacy setting
* Microsoft Office software including Excel
* Confidence in the use of EMIS

* Understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements
* Knowledge of medicines management systems
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice (e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work)
* Knowledge of drugs, side effects and where to find further information
* Knowledge of Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines requirements
* Understanding of the importance of adherence to SOPs and legislation
* Demonstrates a good understanding of patient safety initiatives
* General practice processes and procedures to request and issue medicines
