We are lookingfor an enthusiastic and motivated person to work as part of the reception team. The successful candidate will be dealing withthe public on a daily basis in a busy health centre that serves a community of 9500 patients. They must therefore present themselves well,be polite and helpful, have the ability to work under pressure and to liaisewith staff at all levels. The successfulapplicant must be flexible and willing to work as part of a team.
There may be the opportunity to work extra hours to cover holidays.
This position is for up to 16 hours per week. The rota may include working up to three days per week between 08.00am - 6.30pm. Rota to be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job
The role is wide ranging and the main responsibilities are:
To process personal telephone and digital requests for appointments.
Answer incoming phone calls, and signposting patients to the correct service where appropriate.
To answer generalenquiries, supervise waiting area and explain surgery procedures.
Booking appointments, andretrieve medical records for consultations, if required.
Open and distributepost as appropriate.
Record requests forhome visits and refer urgent requests to duty doctor.
Provide results topatients as instructed by a doctor
Issue prescriptionsand other documents to patients
Take responsibilityfor specific administrative functions e.g. registrations, immunisations

Person Specification
Experience
* The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skils, be empathetic and have an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
* Previous GP receptionist experience within a medical setting would be an advantage, though not essential as full training would be given.
