A leading research and technology organisation in Newport is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting‑edge technologies within a hands‑on, innovative environment.
You’ll take designs from concept through to prototype, working hands‑on with complexdesigns or innovative solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
* 3D/2D design and drafting of components and assemblies
* Concept development and design documentation
* Supplier liaison and component sourcing
* Prototype assembly, testing and validation
Essential Skills & Experience
* BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Recent experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
* Strong SolidWorks skills (modelling, drawings, simulation)
* Experience with high‑speed rotating assemblies
* Strong understanding of engineering principles, tolerances and manufacturing processes
* Ability to take designs from specification to tested prototype
