Key Responsibilities and Functions
* Maintenance of parks and gardens, recreation reserves, town streetscapes, and roadsides
* Establishment and maintenance of grassed areas, including mowing in streets and parks
* Construction and maintenance of garden beds and landscape features
* Construction and maintenance of irrigation systems
* Installation of warning signs, safety lights, and barricades at work sites
* Erection and maintenance of traffic control devices, street signs, and guideposts
* Ensure that daily routine maintenance on assigned plant and equipment is carried out; record and report any faults
* Ensure that all assigned plant and equipment is returned to a depot, or otherwise securely stored at the end of the shift
* Undertake minor repairs to assigned plant and equipment
* Report daily any observed damage to Council assets
* Accurately record daily work activities for reporting to Leading Hand / Team Leader
* Participate in knowledge / skills developmental training, or OH&S training as directed
* The maintenance of strict confidentiality in any matter which may affect Council’s ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and / or contractors
* Participate in Council’s after-hours call-out phone and duty roster and public convenience cleaning roster
Minimum Requirements :
* Relevant qualifications and experience in Horticulture / Landscaping
* Licences / tickets in safe operation of a variety of plant (chainsaw, tractors, mowers, etc.)
* Experience in parks and gardens maintenance
* Ability to perform various tasks involving heavy lifting, climbing into high cabins of plant, climbing to secure loads, etc.
* Understanding and commitment to OH&S practices with relevant OH&S cards
