Ultra Precision Control Systems are seeking a Quality Engineer to support PCS Quality Assurance Function. The role ensures compliance with our Quality Policy, the Quality Management System, and works with operations and engineering teams to guarantee product and process standards.
Responsibilities
* Plan and carry out a schedule of audits and assessments with completion of associated documentation and activities in accordance with the QMS.
* Support investigations arising from quality issues with root cause analysis and preventive solutions.
* Manage completion and effectiveness of corrective and preventative measures.
* Ensure quality measures with associated targets are maintained for QA compliance.
* Support external quality audits, assessments and visits by customers and authorities.
* Ensure regular shop floor checks are performed and issues are resolved.
* Coordinate timely responses and resolution of quality issues identified.
* Assist with the generation of quality plans and proposals.
* Support the generation of first‑article reports internally and for customer‑facing activities for product verification.
* Support customer or supplier source inspection or delegate product review verification activities.
* Facilitate concession applications and engineering change requests.
* Participate in engineering design project reviews and audit projects for QMS compliance.
* Participate in contract reviews and new business proposal launches.
* Support operator approval processes, issuing stamps and scopes of approval.
* Perform duties in accordance with company policies, procedures and processes.
* Develop and support a business improvement culture through process mapping, lean and continuous improvement activities.
* Maintain approvals such as EASA, CAA, FAR, ISO, AS, etc. to support airworthiness.
Qualifications
* Proven range of quality and business improvement experience.
* Proven experience within a quality management system.
* Experience with internal and external auditing.
* Knowledge of manufacturing environments and working with a supply chain.
* Experience liaising with internal and external customers.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentations.
* Works effectively with others and builds trust with stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to plan work, deliver on time and make timely decisions.
* Positive "can‑do" attitude and initiative within the role’s scope.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Ability to work in the UK without restrictions and willingness to undertake UK National Security Vetting.
* Education: A Level grade C or above (or equivalent); degree level preferred.
* Certified Quality Auditor training.
* Education linked to engineering qualifications.
Additional Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, EASA Part 21, Part 145, etc.).
* Experience with First Article and Parts Approval methodologies (AS9102, PPAP).
* Process measurement techniques (SPC, KPIs).
* Experience with Quality Management System and Process Mapping software.
* Familiarity with FOD and counterfeit avoidance practices.
