About Our Client

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Assistant Buyer to join a rapidly growing retailer that has recently been featured on national TV. With ambitious plans to increase market share over the next 12 months with further new store openings.You'll work closely with the Senior Buyer and the wider buying team, gaining hands‑on exposure across the full buying cycle.This is a fast‑paced retail environment where you'll thrive working with a broad and dynamic supplier base, contributing to the continued growth and visibility of the company.

Job Description

3. Cost Price Negotiations: Conduct intense and strategic cost price negotiations with suppliers to secure the best possible deals while maintaining product quality.
4. Product Sourcing: Identify and source high-value clearance products from UK and European traders, wholesalers, and other suppliers to meet business requirements.
5. Account Management: Take ownership of smaller supplier accounts, fostering strong relationships and driving sales through proactive engagement and management.
6. Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity/pricing, and market dynamics to identify opportunities for new product lines and value-driven sourcing strategies.
7. Stock Management: Collaborate with the merchandising and supply chain teams to ensure timely stock delivery, appropriate inventory levels, and alignment with business needs.
8. Data Analysis: Monitor sales performance, evaluate the profitability of products, and use insights to inform future buying decisions.
9. Supplier Relationships: Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, ensuring that they meet the company's standards for quality, delivery, and pricing.
10. Administrative Support: Assist with the preparation of purchase orders, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with procurement processes.

11. Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to drive cost efficiencies.
12. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
13. Commercial awareness with a good understanding of trading environments in the UK.
14. Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to take initiative.
15. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
16. Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
17. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
