Milton Medical Centre is a busy friendly practice based in Glasgow. We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable medical receptionist to join our practice team.
This is a full-time role and the hours of work a 38.5 per week with a working pattern of 8:30am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays) and 8:30am to 1pm (Tuesdays). Flexibility around working hours is essential to assist our small team.
The salary for the role is within the NHS banding scale, dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed with the successful candidate. Benefits include 6 weeks annual holiday entitlement plus public holidays and optional entry into the pension scheme.

Previous experience in GP medical practice or similar environment is an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided to the right candidate. If you do have previous experience in a patient or customer-facing role, that would be desirable however, we consider excellent communication skills to be key for the role. We need you to be able to communicate professionally, clearly and compassionately with our patients by being polite, respectful and offering the best available care, recognising that our practice covers an area of high socio-economic deprivation and our patients often have complex needs. We also need you to be able to communicate effectively and collegiately with practice colleagues, ensuring that our ethos of giving and receiving support from each other as a small team is followed and supporting the health and safety of both colleagues and patients by being aware of when they and/or other practice colleagues need help.
The role involves welcoming patients warmly and professionally, handling enquiries in person and by telephone, 'signposting' patients to the appropriate service, maintaining patient records confidentially and accurately, ensuring all our information is up to date, managing prescription requests in person and via the answerphone, booking and cancelling appointments and other administrative duties as required.
