Laboris Solutions are pleased to be working with a rapidly growing, privately-owned company originally formed around technology from Oxford University. Headquartered in the UK with overseas subsidiaries, the company has established a reputation for rapid delivery of wireless location systems and camera based sensors.
The company seeks a new Test Engineer to support product development activities. This is a permanent position on-site in Oxfordshire. Applicants will ideally be locally based or within 45 minutes commute.
Engineering aptitude, high attention to detail and excellent written communication skills are necessary for this role.
Responsibilities
* Liaise with engineering and support teams to troubleshoot product issues reported from the field
* Testing of software release candidates
* Write test procedures and define acceptability criteria
* Support the development of automated system tests
* Contribute to the quality management system for processes and documentation
* Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities
* Conduct factory acceptance tests for customer systems
* Occasional travel to third-party manufacturing and test sites
Qualifications and experience levels
* Educated to at least HNC level in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
* At least two years of experience in a similar software or hardware testing position
Skills – Required
Tangible and credible experience is required in the following:
* System-level testing methodologies
* Basic IT system administration via a CLI (Windows and Linux)
* Defining test procedures and reporting requirements
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
Skills – Desirable
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
* Design and automation of system test fixtures (e.g., with scripting or PLCs)
* Basic electrical fault finding with common test equipment
* Test data analysis
* Software development (e.g., C#, Python)
* Shell scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell)
