Salary: £27,000 - £31,000 plus benefits

Location: Home-based areas of work will be within London, Sussex, Kent, Essex and Hertfordshire.

About the role
We are professionals with purpose, beating cancer every day. We need to go much further and faster. This role offers the chance to create moments of joy and hope, raise vital funds, and celebrate and educate through top‑class events for the UK’s largest charity.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver Cancer Research UK events, including flagship outdoor mass participation events (Race for Life 5km, 10km, Pretty Muddy), Shine Night Walk, indoor staff and supporter conferences, engagement events and virtual online events.
* Venue research – find and assess suitability of new venues for mass participation outdoor events and indoor events, negotiating approval and costs.
* Supplier management – research, negotiate, book, plan, brief and ensure high standards for PA, first aid, catering, florists, traffic management and stewards.
* Volunteer coordination – build relationships with long‑standing volunteers, recruit new volunteers, manage volunteer welfare and experience on event day.
* Event staff – brief staff on their role and manage them throughout the event, offering feedback and coaching.
* Supporter experience – ensure events are fun and enjoyable by booking entertainment and overseeing the supporter experience.
* Event day leadership – lead and manage staff, volunteers and suppliers to set up the event site, oversee supporter welfare, and address issues to ensure smooth operation.
* Post‑event – gather feedback and complete post‑event administrative tasks.

* Willingness to work approximately 10 weekends outside in all weathers.
* Ability to perform a physical role (walking courses, moving event equipment).
