You're a Mechanical Engineer first and a Design Engineer second. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll work on projects from concept through to completion, getting involved hands-on with production, product testing, and clients: you don't want to just sit in a design office. Based in Mansfield, we develop machinery and equipment primarily for the water, gas, and utilities sectors.
Salary: up to GBP 50,000 depending on experience

Job Description: Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in Machinery, Equipment, Hydraulics
Reporting to our Technical Director (who remains hands-on), you'll be empowered to take ownership of projects from cradle to grave. You'll visit client sites to visualize design challenges and work closely with the team on the shop floor during production and testing. Projects will range from NPD to re-engineering solutions, low batch, high volume, and next-generation innovation. Managing multiple projects at different stages will be expected, challenging your skills as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Innovation and quality are at our core.
Your Responsibilities:
* Detailed mechanical design of new products from concept to completion
* Re-engineering existing products to improve design, manufacturing efficiency, durability, cost, and weight
* Prototype testing
* Internal stakeholder management with production
Your Background:
* Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with education likely to be an HND or B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering
* Experience in managing design projects from concept through to completion
* Proficient in SolidWorks (practical test at interview)
* Experience working closely with production and testing (DfMA)
* Material selection experience including stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel
