Housing Solutions Officer (Homelessness) – Ref: PHSO
Starting salary £40,115.40 p.a.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the innovative and ambitious Housing Solutions Team at Broxbourne Council. In this customer‑facing role, you will work alongside dedicated and experienced colleagues, interviewing, assessing and supporting those at risk of homelessness.
You will manage a caseload of clients while working collaboratively with colleagues and other agencies to give advice and stable housing solutions. You will make decisions based on your knowledge of housing and homelessness law, so an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of local authority homelessness duties is a must. Whilst this is a varied and challenging role, it is also hugely rewarding as you help households resolve their housing issues.
Requirements
* Previous experience working within a local authority housing or homelessness setting.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority homelessness duties.
* Highly motivated and genuinely interested in helping people.
* Excellent communication skills – previous experience in a customer‑facing role is essential.
* Fluent spoken English and good written and analytical skills. GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths required.
* Full driving licence.
Working arrangements
The Council offers hybrid working arrangements. During the probationary period, the role is office‑based so that our hands‑on, supportive and comprehensive induction programme can be delivered in person. This approach helps new colleagues feel confident, connected, and fully equipped to thrive in the role.
Benefits
The Council’s benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, a full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and free membership to the Council’s local leisure centres. This includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a health suite, and a range of generous discounts across other leisure and culture services.
