Role Description
D&P is seeking a dynamic Business Development Director to drive growth, win new clients, and build relationships that truly matter. This is a rare opportunity to shape the agency’s market presence and play a central role in our growth strategy. If you thrive on spotting opportunities, closing deals, and turning prospects into long-term partners, this is the role for you. You’ll work closely with the Board, Marketing Director and senior team to set ambitious targets, shape strategy, and lead initiatives that grow revenue and strengthen D&P’s position as a market leader. The role will be supported by the Business Development Lead. Ambitious, persuasive, and action-oriented? Key Responsibilities
New Business & Lead Generation
* Collaborate with the Board to set ambitious new business targets and KPIs aligned with overall business objectives.
* Develop and execute a new business plan that aligns with D&P’s positioning and growth ambitions to expand the agency’s client base and revenue streams.
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the agency network and build a strong future pipeline.
* Cultivate and maintain relationships with key decision-makers across target sectors and businesses.
* Orchestrate new business meetings with prospective clients to introduce D&P’s offer and capabilities.
* Proactively respond to inbound enquiries, RFPs/RFIs, and pursue outbound opportunities.
* Monitor and track leads, outreach activity, and pipeline development to ensure consistent business growth.
* Provide regular reporting and analysis on new business activities, pipeline status, and win/loss outcomes, sharing insights with the Board to inform strategy. Reporting at monthly Board meeting.
* Management and development of Business Development Lead.
Pitch & Proposal Management
* Lead the RFP/RFI pitch process, coordinating with Creative Directors, Commercial, and Finance teams to ensure timely submissions.
* Collaborate with Creative Directors to develop compelling credentials decks and written proposals.
* Curate and leverage relevant case studies and credentials to strengthen pitches and outbound initiatives.
* Manage all logistics of new business activity, including responses, chemistry meetings, and presentations, ensuring a professional and seamless experience.
* Support the Creative Directors in closing new business opportunities.
* Work closely with the Contracts Manager and MD on client contract negotiations, ensuring smooth transitions from project wins to project team integration.
Client Relationship Support
* Collaborate with Creative Directors to develop and maintain strong relationships with new prospects, existing clients, and lapsed clients.
* Support client engagement initiatives designed to reactivate lapsed clients and deepen existing client relationships.
* Working with the Marketing Director and Strategy team, plan and deliver targeted engagement campaigns to maintain meaningful connections and provide clients with relevant insights.
Market & Agency Positioning
* Work with the Marketing Director to align campaigns, strategy, and collateral with new business objectives and growth targets.
* Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and client developments, identifying opportunities for new business.
* Support updates to materials, including credentials decks, case studies, and social content, to ensure they remain fresh, relevant, and compelling.
You’ll need
* Extensive senior business development experience within a creative agency, ideally with relevant brand /retail /built environments knowledge.
* Proven track record of securing new business, growing client accounts, and achieving revenue growth.
* Strong strategic thinking with the ability to identify opportunities aligned with broader agency objectives.
* Ability to identify and engage target clients, gaining access to key decision-makers and nurturing relationships effectively.
* Proactive relationship management skills, guiding prospects from initial contact through to contract close and fostering long-term client loyalty.
* Confident and persuasive communication skills, capable of presenting D&P’s offer clearly and highlighting its key strengths.
* Ability to build trusted relationships at C-suite and senior decision-maker level and natural talent for building and sustaining client relationships.
* Entrepreneurial mindset and proactive approach to identifying new growth areas.
* Strong commercial acumen and a genuine interest in contributing to agency growth.
* Meticulous attention to detail and a keen eye for design, ensuring all presentations, proposals, and communications are polished and professional.
