Role Overview:
The Draftsperson provides dedicated drawing and documentation support to the Product Team, with a focus on producing accurate, high-quality drawings for
composite manufacture
. Working closely with Designers and Project Leads, you will create detailed part, sub-assembly, and tooling drawings that meet the specific requirements of specific manufacturing processes.
You will also produce exploded views and diagrams for internal build manuals, supporting in ensuring assembly documentation is clear and effective. Your work ensures technical information is presented in a way that is accurate, consistent, and ready for use by suppliers, fabricators, and Assembly Technicians.
Core Responsibilities:
* Produce 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D CAD models for composite components, sub-assemblies, and tooling.
* Create accurate lay-up, trimming and drilling drawings for composite part manufacture.
* Work closely with Designers to ensure all manufacturing drawings meet design specific requirements.
* Apply clear notes, dimensions and callouts to ensure precision and repeatability.
* Generate exploded views and diagrams to support build manuals and assembly instructions.
* Liaise with specific team members to ensure visual documentation supports SOPs and assembly workflows.
* Incorporate feedback from Assembly Technicians to improve drawing clarity and useability.
* Organise and maintain a structured drawing library with version control.
Key Deliverables & KPIs:
* Composite manufacturing drawings delivered accurately and on schedule.
* Complete and consistent drawing sets for all assemblies and sub-assemblies.
* Visual documentation aligned with workshop and assembly needs.
* Reduced rework or clarification requests from suppliers and assembly teams.
* Positive feedback from stakeholders on clarity and accuracy.
Ideal Experience & Profile
Required:
* Experience using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, OnShape) to produce manufacturing drawings.
* Understanding of technical drawings for composite manufacture OR strong interest in developing this skill.
* Good attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in all visual outputs.
* Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
* Organised approach to managing files and version control.
Preferred:
* Previous experience in composite manufacturing environments.
* Familiarity with low-mid volume, high-quality production.
* Knowledge of drawing standards and tolerances (training can be provided).
