What you will do
* Case Management: Manage a complex caseload of safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring each child receives appropriate protection and support.
* Statutory Assessments: Undertake statutory assessments, including Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries, maintaining a strong focus on quality and timeliness.
* Care Planning: Develop and implement robust child protection and care plans tailored to each child’s needs.
* Multi-Agency Working: Lead and contribute to strategy meetings, core groups, and other multi‑agency forums.
* Mentoring: Provide mentoring and informal supervision to less experienced social workers, sharing professional expertise.
* Recording & Compliance: Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality recording in line with statutory requirements.
* Partnership Working: Collaborate with partner agencies including health, education, and police services.
* Risk Management: Apply sound professional judgement to manage risk and safeguard children effectively.
* Service Improvement: Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
* Significant post‑qualification experience within children’s safeguarding and child protection.
* Proven ability to manage complex and high‑risk cases.
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act and safeguarding frameworks.
* Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff.
* Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills.
* Practice Educator qualification or post‑qualifying award.
* Experience working within a large urban local authority.
* Knowledge of inspection frameworks such as Ofsted.
