Operational Supply Chain Manager at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, based at Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.
This role leads the Logistics and Supply Chain Team across two acute sites – Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven. The manager will oversee day‑to‑day operations, support staff and deliver high quality logistics service.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Operational Supply Chain Team, including Materials Management Assistants.
* Provide training and support for the Supply Chain Team across ward and theatre departments.
* Ensure day‑to‑day running of the supply chain service to maintain high service levels.
* Manage staff across two sites: annual leave, sickness, reporting and performance management.
* Drive service development in line with NHS best practice.
* Maintain super user rights to key systems (NHSSC, Atticus Stock Management System).
* Analyse complex data, manage procurement and supply chain processes.
Qualifications and experience
* 5 GCSEs including English and Maths, Grade C or above.
* Degree or diploma level graduate (CIPS or procurement related) or equivalent experience.
* Purchasing and/or logistics/supply‑chain experience with team management at a Trust or large organisation.
* Knowledge of Public Procurement Law.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Strategic planning, team leadership and strong communication skills.
* Desirable: supervisory/management qualification; NHS/government sector experience; advanced Excel; blue‑chip private sector experience; risk management and health & safety awareness.
