Lead Pupil Support Assistant - PKC12728
£14,739 - £15,790 (21 Hours per week, Term-time only)
Based at 2 High Street, Perth
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Practitioner to oversee Manual Handling training and quality assurance in schools.
The post holder will develop an annual training calendar and support the maintenance of records of those trained to support children and young people.
Additionally, the post holder will lead on quality assurance visits to Early Learning & Childcare (ELC) settings and schools where manual handling practice is used, offering support and guidance to staff to ensure practice is compliant with legislation and local guidance.
Skills & Experience Required
You must have experience in all aspects of manual handling practice for children and young people, ideally within an education setting.
You will hold, or be willing to work towards achieving, the Children Handling and Risk Assessment Key Trainer's Certificate (EGDE) or equivalent RoSPA Qualification (Advanced Level 4). Support will be provided to the successful candidate to secure this qualification. For the position to be made permanent, this qualification should be achieved within 6 months of taking up post.
You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and will have good organisational skills, using IT effectively to maintain records.
You will have experience of supporting children and young people in both mainstream and specialist education settings and have an understanding of the needs of both children and the adults who support them.
You will be an experienced trainer, with strong communication skills, able to adapt your delivery to the needs of your audience.
You will be confident in the Health and Safety legislation and have experience of evaluating other practitioner's practice.
You will be confident in developing and reviewing risk assessments relating to manual handling. Additionally, you will be skilled in supporting staff to ensure best practice is followed.
You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross. Alternatively, you must have the ability to travel widely within Perth and Kinross to meet the needs of individual ELC and school settings.
