Construction Site HSE Advisor Aug - November 2025 (Ongoing) CONTEXT: The position will be based in our client's solar plant construction site in central England with strong involvement in project preparation, monitoring and execution. Cooperation with the company's local affiliate will be necessary. High level of autonomy and ability to manage HSE in remote locations are required. MAIN ACTIVITIES: General HSE requirements Ensures strict compliance with project HSE requirements, HSE contractual clauses and any other documents governing relations with contractors. Ensure strict compliance with HSE instructions, rules and procedures in force in the business affiliate and / or Special Purpose Vehicle and applicable for the project. Provides Construction Design & Management (CDM) advice and support, including review of pre-construction information, health and safety files, construction phase plans, risk assessments and method statements. Supports Project team in the safe execution of any operational activities, including participation in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRAs), review of quality and HSE plans, inspection and test plans, kick-off meetings, safety standdowns and relevant meetings. Manages HSE evaluations of any new contractors. Develops and deploys company HSE Management system. Promotes company Safety culture & follows implementation of company HSE systems (Golden Rules, Our Lives First, Lifesaving Checks, Safety Green Light, Safety tours, stop work authority). Establishes HSE monitoring, inspection and audit programs, supports Management Joint Safety Tours and ensures follow-up of the HSE Action Tracking Register. Ensures Project HSE training and Induction programs implementation. Promotes a proactive and positive intervention approach to site teams. Promotes HSE and Sustainability awareness among the workforce, through proposals and monitoring of toolbox talks, incentive schemes, lessons learned, supervision, and management. Promotes any HSE initiative to be implemented on site, such as but not limited to communication campaigns, safety culture programs, and World Day for Safety & Environment. Advises and accompanies contractors on general and specific operational HSE matters. Reviews and verifies implementation of Contractor HSE plans / procedures including tasks' specific documents and ensures documentation is kept up to date. Ensure that site HSE meetings and reviews are performed and recorded accordingly. Monitors and reports to UK Head of HSE and Renewables HQ HSE management the level of project compliance regarding implementation of H3SEQ standards, any local by-laws and government legislation. SITE HSE Risk management Ensures all SITE activities carried out by contractors and subcontractors are conducted in strict accordance with project HSE Standards. Monitors the effective implementation of the Permit to Work system on site. Ensures implementation of HSE Risk Management process, and that all activities are covered by relevant Risk Assessments. Ensures HSE checks of all machinery / equipment entering the site are performed & verifies inspection process. Ensures relevant project HSE permits are obtained from authorities and monitors their implementation. Ensures emergency response plans are developed, supports their implementation for any identified potential event, and ensures that drills are carried out accordingly. Environmental Aspects Management Ensures compliance with environmental and social ESIA requirements and measures concerning the project Follows up Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP), Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) commitments. Monitors and controls the EPC contractor with regards to his scope for compliance with national requirements. Carries out environmental inspections and conducts toolbox talks and training of the EPC contractors and subcontractors. Supports external advisor in the performance of quarterly E&S audits to assess the implementation of actions outlined in ESAP. HSE reporting and REX Collects and consolidates relevant HSE data from all project worksites for daily / weekly / monthly reports. Prepares necessary environmental data for monthly construction reports, company specific and lenders reports. Ensures reporting of any anomaly, violation & unsafe practice and follows up corresponding corrective actions. Ensures an HSE Observations (unsafe situation/act) reporting scheme is implemented, with proper analyses and follow-up of action taken; Promotes proactive HSE Observations reporting. Ensures efficient communication of Return of Experience (REX) on site and within the company. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Previous HSE professional experience in the energy industry and construction sector(s) of which should ideally be on site. Technical degree or diploma (plus internationally recognized HSE degree/diploma) Experience in the power sector will be a plus. Knowledge of local regulations regarding construction health and safety as applicable to solar installations, labour laws etc. Precision and zero compromise / tolerance approach on HSE and technical excellence. Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to HSE topics. Ability to prepare reports on all HSE technical matters. Ability of conducting HSE incident investigations.
