The Role
The successful candidate will be part of the purchasing team, ensuring a robust and committed supply chain for this UK-based global brand. You should have a proven track record in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Automotive industries. The role requires someone enthusiastic and capable, with strong internal relationships as important as those with suppliers.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Be a category expert for your area of responsibility, managing the supply base, costs, and supplier prospecting.
* Plan and execute early supplier engagement for new Norton projects, including supplier validation and sign-off tracking.
* Negotiate pricing for new products, oversee manufacturing feasibility reviews, development plans, and capacity assessments.
* Build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers, ensuring effective communication.
* Support purchasing and other departments by communicating supply issues impacting projects.
* Prepare and process purchase orders and schedules.
* Negotiate contracts to improve prices and terms while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
* Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in purchasing processes.
* Evaluate current and prospective suppliers based on performance metrics such as quality, cost, and delivery.
Personal Specification
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Experience in Electrical category procurement.
* Technical understanding of drawings and specifications to ensure supplier alignment.
* High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* Effective time management and workload prioritization.
* Flexible and adaptable to a dynamic environment.
* Proactive, methodical, and persistent.
* Ability to work well under pressure and within a team.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
* Right to work in the UK is required.
