Job Title: Therapy Assistant
Location: The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands DY1 3SB
Salary: £25,837.50 FTE DOE
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Contract: Permanent – Term Time only
Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
About the Role
This exciting opportunity allows you to join a dedicated team of clinicians supporting children and young people at The Wenlock School. The role is cross‑disciplinary, primarily supporting Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. You will work closely with the therapy team to provide high‑quality, evidence‑based support tailored to pupils’ needs, while also collaborating with the education team to support pupils and their families.
* Provide evidence‑based assessments and interventions under qualified clinician supervision.
* Support the creation of communication and sensory profiles.
* Contribute to placement plans and deliver a range of interventions.
* Conduct observations and co‑facilitate staff training.
* Attend multi‑agency meetings and drive ongoing service development.
* Engage in continual professional development, including internal forums and external training.
Who we are looking for
We seek an independent, motivated individual with experience working with young people who have special educational needs. Creative and dynamic problem‑solving skills, and the ability to develop bespoke interventions for complex pupils, are essential.
Essential Criteria
* Minimum of 5 GCSE passes including English at Grade C or above.
* Evidence of relevant post‑16 education.
* Willingness to work towards further qualifications as required.
* Experience as a therapy assistant or in a similar role is advantageous.
* Experience working within an educational setting is advantageous.
* Skilled in team working.
* Knowledge and understanding of working with children and young people with SEN.
* Ability to carry out both 1:1 and group sessions under supervision.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to convey complex, technical, and clinically sensitive information.
* Strong organisational skills and experience with administrative tasks for a team is advantageous.
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
