The need of some of the children at St Paul’s is changing and for this reason, we are looking to expand our team of SEN support staff to meet the diverse needs of the children in school. The role of a SEN support assistant is important to us because it enables the child to have a curriculum that supports their individual needs, while helping to ensure they maintain their inclusion and involvement in all aspects of school life.
The successful applicant would need to work in a class team, the wider year group team as well as independently when needed. This role would involve the SEN assistant becoming part of the expert team for the children that they are working with. The role would include not only working to deliver a bespoke provision but detailing and recording the impact of the provision to enable the plan, do review cycle required for SEND paper work to be completed.
To become the expert this role will also involve close working with outside professionals and specific training opportunities to meet the needs of the child. To ensure that they are given the best opportunities to make progress in both their academic and social skills.
Although primarily employed to work with specific children within the class we recognise that this can be a demanding role. You would also work as part of the whole class team and on some occasions use you skill set to work with other children within the class.
This roles is linked to successful bids from the Communities of Schools budget and for this reason are impacted if children leave school. Although these roles are advertised as part time the hours cover the whole school day (9am to 3.06 pm) and are term time only.
The school has a family feeling and offers a nurturing environment to all; we look forward to you becoming a new member of our school family.
