Are you a skilled Civil Engineer looking for your next challenge in Plymouth? I'm working with a well-established consultancy that has a fantastic opening for a Civil Engineer to join their experienced and friendly team.
This is a great opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects - including schools, residential developments, and public realm improvements - with a focus on high-quality delivery, collaborative design, and career progression.
The Opportunity:
You'll be involved in delivering key civil engineering inputs across highways, drainage, earthworks, and utilities design. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of technical work and team collaboration, and who thrives in a professional environment where quality, client satisfaction, and innovation are central.
Key Responsibilities:
·Manage and deliver civil/infrastructure designs across a range of projects
·Prepare drainage strategies including FRA, layouts, and hydraulic calculations
·Design highways for planning, local authority and highway authority approval
·Carry out earthworks design including cut and fill assessments
·Produce specifications, risk assessments, and respond to site queries
·Prepare and negotiate S278, S38 and other local authority agreements
·Maintain compliance with UK design standards and regulations
What You'll Bring:
·Solid experience in civil engineering design - drainage, highways, and utilities
·Ability to coordinate with clients, architects, project managers, and other stakeholders
·Understanding of technical approvals, construction phases, and site queries
·Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
·Ambition to progress towards professional qualifications (e.g. CEng, MICE)
·Awareness of commercial aspects such as fee management and change control
Desirable:
·Experience in mentoring junior staff or leading small teams
·Commercially astute with a focus on quality and client service
·Interest in contributing to the wider development of the team and office
