Role Overview:
Location : Remote or Hybrid
Role type : Fixed-term, 1 month
We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Designer with advanced proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 and a strong background in mechanical design for product enclosures and electronics integration. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in DFM-ready modeling, complex assemblies, and practical knowledge of integrating electrical and mechanical components in high-performance systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop parametric models and assemblies in Autodesk Fusion 360
Create detailed technical drawings, exploded views, and specifications for manufacturing handoff, ensuring all outputs align with DFM principles
Implement and maintain version control protocols for collaborative design projects, utilizing Fusion 360 Teams or similar systems
Integrate PC hardware (e.g., GPU, PSU, motherboards) into enclosure designs, considering airflow, cable routing, and thermal performance
Embed lighting systems (e.g., LED strips) and plan for camera/sensor placement with accurate field-of-view modeling
Design structural components including hinges, brackets, locks, and modular systems optimized for tool-less access and serviceability
Select materials and define tolerances for mixed-material assemblies (e.g., aluminum and steel)
Develop designs within manufacturing constraints, considering factors like bend radii, K-factors, hole clearances, and CNC/laser cutting limitations
Translate supplier specifications into usable CAD formats (STEP, DXF) for quoting and production
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and fabrication teams to ensure design intent and quality
Qualifications:
~3+ years professional CAD design experience
~ Expert-level proficiency with Autodesk Fusion 360
~ Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and DFM best practices
~ Experience designing products that incorporate electrical systems and components
~ Familiarity with fasteners, tolerances, and materials for mixed-structure assemblies
~ Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC routing, laser cutting, and metal fabrication
~ Experience with collaborative version control and file management systems
Desirable Skills:
Ability to create photorealistic renders using KeyShot or Fusion-native tools
Exposure to thermal and airflow modeling concepts
Prior experience in kiosk, trade show, or retail fixture design environments
