Maintenance Craftsperson (Mechanical) role at Blue Eye Designs.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious and dedicated maintenance craftsperson (Mechanical) to join a team of engineering craftsperson responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical plant and equipment at buildings maintained by CHoICE Facilities Services. The role will require the post holder to undertake the role of Competent Person (CP) as defined within Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 00 for multiple engineer services and support CHoICE to meet its statutory, mandatory and best practice commitments to its existing partners.

* To undertake actual maintenance and installation work/activities across the range of engineering services managed/maintained by CFS.
* Carry out surveys, inspections, fault finding, servicing and rectification of engineering system faults.
* Provide technical advice, guidance and, where appropriate, supervision to other CFS staff, contractors and Trust colleagues.
* Participate in the current CFS shift pattern/system, current on-call rota and undertake overtime when required, with appropriate payments.
Key systems and activities
* Maintenance and operation of large scale mechanical systems including AHUs, LTHW systems, steam plant, pressure systems, medical gas systems, refrigeration plant and BMS control.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
* Knowledge and experience of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems typically found within a large NHS Acute Trust.
* Detailed knowledge and experience of mechanical system requirements and regulations typically found within large NHS Acute Trust.
* Complex fault diagnosis, interpreting technical issues and formulating technical solutions to maintain the service.
* Experience as a competent person able to accept a permit to work from an authorised person.
Desirable
* Experience of working within an NHS Hospital Environment.
* Experience of operating Building Management Systems (BMS).
Physical and other requirements
* Willingness and ability to travel and work at all Trust sites.
* Ability to undertake moderate physical activities for long periods; ability to handle regular moving and handling tasks and fine motor work.
* Able to operate and use computer systems such as electronic asbestos register, labour management system, pneumatic tube system, building management system, fire alarm systems.
* Able to adopt a flexible approach to working hours and on-call shift requirements.
Qualifications
Essential
* Basic numeracy & literacy skills to level 1 or equivalent.
* Basic IT Skills.
* BTEC/ONC, City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 or equivalent in suitable engineering related discipline.
* Completion of recognised and accredited apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
Desirable
* HTMs knowledge, planned preventative maintenance knowledge, and building management systems (BMS).
Salary and terms
The base salary is £33,127 to £40,327 per year. Additional monetary rewards may be earned through on-call, shift rota and overtime.
