The Head of Planning will lead a dynamic department focused on ensuring our work plans deliver against the expectations of customers and stakeholders. This role is not just about oversight; it’s about defining and implementing a transformative change in capability to ensure we are set up for success and to deliver the increase in investment volume and complexity.
Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, utility industries, and government agencies is essential. Your exceptional people leadership and problem-solving skills will be key in driving the performance and growth of the ET business.
This role is office based, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
* Set the direction for how Electricity Transmission plans work to be carried out on the transmission network. Implement any plans that enhance capability to enable this direction to be achieved, working with key stakeholders internal and external to deliver.
* Operate the electricity transmission planning processes in all timescales to ensure maximised utilisation of constrained resource, to deliver the optimal portfolio of work (network operation / maintenance and network growth).
* Embed a digital-first approach to planning, ensuring we efficiently and effectively scale capability to operate in an environment with ever increasing work volumes and complexity.
* Engage and influence key stakeholders, internal and external, on the insights and decisions required when making planning decisions.
* Accountable for building strategic relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders on system access planning and for leading the agenda in our interactions with these organisations.
What You'll Have
* Chartered Membership of a relevant organisation preferable or membership of a relevant organisation with skills and training leading to chartership. Certificate of Asset Management (IAM) or CEng.
* Experience in the real time operation of a planning / logistics nature that requires maximising the utilisation of resource to deliver an organisational outcome. E.g. for fleet that’s maximising utilisation of vehicles
* Ability to contextualise the planning capability, understand the fit in the wider enterprise and plan forward how to get the most value outcomes.
* Experience building and implementing transformation plans
* Experience leading large and dispersed high performing teams
* Experience operating at Executive level
* Exceptional stakeholder skills that can work across an organisation with a wide array of views and take directional decisions that others will buy into and support forward.
